Meghan Show Notes

Beauty Bonus Round:

What are your three Holy Grail beauty items?

My skin has been my main insecurity for a long time, so they are mostly skin items.

1.)  Cover Girl 3 in 1 Foundation

2.)  Neutrogena Shine Control Powder: Incredible for oily skin

3.)  Boing concealer from Benefit. So great. It’s industrial strength concealer.

What are your three Holy Grail work items for your channel?

1.)  Twitter is my main app that is really good for promo videos. Twitter is my place.

2.)  Computer: It’s getting a little slow I have had it for two years. I have the Mac Book pro, they are great. Any Apple computer is really great for editing.

3.)  iMovie: The newest version of it is the first version that is yellow, the new purple version is better. Everyone else uses Final Cut pro, I have it on this computer, but I don’t know how to use it. I need one of my friends to teach me how to do it. I am going to make the switch in a couple weeks or months, definitely Final Cut. I know all of the iMovie keyword shortcuts; it’s going to be tough.

Do you have any time management tools and tips?

I was so bad when I first moved to LA. Just getting everything in order and focusing. To-do lists are my favorite. Waking up in the morning and thinking, this is what I am going to get done today and these are my goals for today. I have a calendar on the back of my door where I plan out the entire month. I write up my uploading schedule for week. I have other things like Yoga classes I put up also. Calendars and to-do lists are incredible. Actually making a goal for myself is important. I have a giant calendar on the back of my door. The to-do lists are from paper source.

Who is your Beauty Vlogger inspiration?

Clothes Encounters. She’s incredible. I love her videos so much. I have met her and she is very humble. I love her clean cut editing and her fonts. You can make your own style of videos, especially with final cut. I know she uses final cut. I want to learn how to have a style of editing; I admire hers, its great.

What would you not do again if you were to start your channel right now?

I wish I could go back and tell myself not to hold back from who you are in your videos. That is the main thing people are going to connect to; a personality, that is what people are drawn to. If you can make the connection with your viewers starting off, it’s important. I know I made a connection at the beginning but its just different than what I am doing now.

What is your unfair advantage?

Starting off with my sister. I feel like I can’t give people proper tips on how to grow from having 0 subscribers to 300k. Most people had a point where they had one video where they randomly got a lot of views. One of my videos got a ton of views. It was a prom makeup look. I did three of my friends makeup. I used to get hate on my videos. The only reason you have this audience is from your sister. I would reply and say, these people wouldn’t subscribe to me if they didn’t like me. So many people grow from collaborations. Having friends that do the same thing as you and you do it together. I love the motivational energy being out here in LA. So many of my friends live out here and also do YouTube. It makes you want to do more.

What are you glad you did do when you first started?

I am just glad that I made the decision to actually do it. My sister was wanting me for the longest time to do it. I kind of regret not getting into it earlier. She started a few years before me. I am glad she told me to do this. It brought me to where I am today
